Signpost Up Ahead

"You unlock this door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimension - a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. You're moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas. That's the signpost up ahead: you have just entered the Twilight Zone!

New Schedule, Jam Session Night + Blog
We are beginning to put together a long range schedule for probably three Fridays a month. Some people have asked for special themed nights and we are working on that idea and beginning to plan those. We will announce our first themed night soon.
We are also working on an evening that will be at least half or
mostly jam session with Wicker Park Nights artists and some guests. The last jam session we did was so extraordinary. I think there were something like 8 people playing one drum set at one point, and the music that the jam session produced was completely fresh...a cross of maybe Tom Waits and Philip Glass--and a truly rare music experience....At one point we were trying to find the bartender for about 20 minutes --we checked everywhere only to find that he was one of the people playing the drums....There were also a fair number of audience members who joined in and some that even arrived thinking that that was what the announced jam session meant: that the audience was included. So we are working out the details for that evening and will announce the date soon.
We have the blog up on the website, though we have not put the first blog article up yet: We will have one blog written by our incredible sound man, Chicago Sound Company’s Jon Guerrero who is first and foremost a sound artist: He has raised the level of Wicker Park Nights in a huge way, and he has also helped a number of our individual artists. His blog will critique and help us to learn more of the nuances, artistry and technical aspects of sound. Another series on the blog will deal with the issues of bringing ones artistic vision to the public and not watering it down, finding a way to keep one’s voice clear and make a living with one’s art at the same time.
Please contact us if you would like to write a blog column or an individual article or have ideas for features or sections of the blog.
